Cozy Grove
A life-sim about camping on a haunted island as a Spirit Scout, helping gentle ghosts and bringing colour back to the forest. The developer says it is synced to real-world time and gives 30 to 60 minutes of new content each day, which naturally caps a session.
Helping friendly ghost bears on a camping island

Being a Spirit Scout in Cozy Grove
Cozy Grove casts you as a Spirit Scout camping on a strange island. The island's residents are ghosts, and PEGI notes they are not at all scary, resembling cuddly cartoon animals. Each one has a story to uncover and a request to fulfil.
When you help a spirit, colour returns to the area around them. The developer, Spry Fox, describes hand-drawn landscapes that come alive as you go. Between quests you collect, craft decorations, fish and look after spirit animals.
The developer describes a campaign of more than 40 hours, designed to span months of play.
Your camp is also yours to decorate. You craft decorations and place them around the island, and the forest grows livelier as you go. Fishing and collecting fill the gaps between story moments.
Its art is hand-drawn and its story is told in short, gentle conversations, so even a busy evening can fit in a quick visit to check on your ghostly neighbours.
How Cozy Grove's daily rhythm limits a session
Cozy Grove is synced to real-world time. According to its store listing, each day provides 30 to 60 minutes of new quest content, after which you can keep fishing, crafting and decorating as long as you like.
For calm play this cuts both ways. A natural daily limit makes it easy to stop: once the day's quests are done, there is a clear reason to put it down. On the other hand, a game that releases content daily can create a gentle nudge to come back every day.
Our guide to playing without pressure explains how to treat daily-content games as optional rather than as a streak. Missing a day does not undo your progress.
A helpful habit is to decide your stopping point before you start: for example, finish the spirits' requests for the day, place one new decoration and close the game. That keeps the daily rhythm a pleasure rather than a checklist.
Because the content is spread across months, Cozy Grove rewards little and often rather than long sessions. If you prefer to play for an hour or two at a time, a game without a real-time structure may suit you better, and it is worth knowing that before you buy.
What Cozy Grove's purchases cover
PEGI lists in-game purchases for Cozy Grove and explains that they take the form of downloadable content. PEGI notes that the game can be played without buying anything. Steam lists two DLC items.
If a child is playing, consider turning on console purchase controls before they start. Our guide to calm games for kids covers where to find these settings.
A separate mobile game, Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, is published by Netflix. It is a different product and is not covered here.
The PEGI note is reassuring for families: it says there are infrequent verbal references to violence but no depictions of violence, and that the ghosts are not at all scary. That makes it suitable for younger players, though reading the dialogue helps them follow the stories.
Cozy Grove on PC and consoles
Steam lists Cozy Grove for Windows PC, released in April 2021. The PEGI database lists Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 releases from August 2023, both PEGI 3 with the in-game purchases descriptor.
If you like its daily, real-time structure, Animal Crossing: New Horizons works in a similar way. If you would prefer a forest game with no clock at all, A Short Hike is a better fit.
Steam lists Remote Play on phone, tablet and TV for the PC version, which can make it easy to play away from a desk.
On any platform, the experience is the same gentle loop of visiting spirits, crafting and fishing, so choose whichever device you are most comfortable relaxing with.
"Calm" here is an editorial view of pacing and pressure, not a health claim. If a game stops feeling restful, it is fine to put it down.
